Gas Tank

June 17th was one of those days when you need to catch up on some of the smaller things in preparation for bigger projects. One of the first things I decided to do was to check over the gas tank and POR-15 it.

The bottom of the tank was covered in undercoating which was fairly easy to remove with a little elbow grease and diesel fuel.  The bottom of the tank looked nearly new when I was done.

The top of the tank had 40 years worth of greasy dirt and gunk on it which also came off fairly easy with diesel fuel and a brass brush.  There was a little bit of surface rust on it, but nothing to be concerned with.  The inside of the tank looks spotless.

Once again POR-15 does it's magic and makes the tank look like it just came from the factory.  I can't say enough about this stuff plus I won't have to worry about the tank rusting from the outside.  The tank will be scuffed and painted silver which is the original color for it.

The fuel line was also cleaned and painted silver.
