Engine Install

The day began by painting some of the pieces that we would be installing today.  This included the transmission, bell housing, and gas tank.  Here is a picture of Ray painting the gas tank which had been previously painted with POR-15.

There really wasn't much to do as far as painting on the engine.  I touched up a few bolt heads with silver paint so that they would match the others that had been painted previously.  The engine and transmission were mated and set into the frame.

We made sure that the engine and transmission were secure and also installed the front sway bar.  We ran out of afternoon before we could get the driveshaft installed, and also needed to find the U-bolts to hold it to the rear end.  I decided that it was time to roll the car outside while we still had some daylight to take pictures.  Here's a good shot of the left-hand side of the engine and transmission.
Another shot from the right-rear of the engine and transmission.  The paint on the transmission turned out great... not to mention the paint job on the valve covers.  They're like looking in a mirror and don't even have a clear coat on them yet.
The picture basically speaks for itself.  Needless to say I was all smiles by the time we wrapped things up this afternoon.
A final updated shot of what we were able to accomplish today.  I got the engine back in the frame so now I can quit bugging Ray about it and he got his engine stand back.

The next step is to finish up mounting a few small things and then begin on the body.  The body is scheduled to be taken to the sandblaster sometime in the next two weeks.  I hope to go back up on Labor Day weekend and begin learning how to do paint and body work... the proper way.
